Life @ Fairview

With summer in full swing, thoughts are already turning to August, the beginning of school, and many exciting opportunities here at the church. Please prayerfully consider the following.

Operation HOPE (Helping Others Prepare for Eternity).....now that we are in our new location, we have a mortgage to pay. Our monthly interest and principle payment is approximately $39,000. Every individual is asked to give monthly above your regular tithe. Special Operation HOPE envelopes are available with every penny going to pay our debt. Yes, this is a challenge. At the present time, we are averaging around $32,000 per month in giving to Operation Hope including the income from McClain Christian Academy. This means we MUST increase our giving. You are encouraged to begin giving today.

Next Steps Ministries....is expanding and moving to Wednesday nights as an experiment. After polling many people, the decision has been made to move all small groups on Sunday night to Wednesday night. A light meal will be offered from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at a minimal cost. Small groups will meet from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Stay tuned for a variety of course offerings. This kicks off August 5th.

Small Group Ministry....one of our core values is getting people assimilated into small groups. Beginning in August, we want to encourage everyone to be in a small group either on Sunday morning or one that meets during the week. As we grow larger, we will also grow smaller by connecting and ministering to others through small groups. Beginning in the fall, we will be launching several new small groups that will meet off campus on Sunday morning as well as throughout the week. Plan now to get involved!

New College Bible Study Class.....Chris Ross and Matthew Meredith are excited about the new Sunday morning Bible Study class for all college students. This class will be designed to reach “Today’s Generation.” If you know college students who are searching for a church as well as a place to ‘hang’ then tell them about Fairview!

Pepper Port Partnership.....is a new relationship between the churches of the Wilson County Baptist Association and Peter/Jenny Lee Stillman (International Mission Board missionaries from Lebanon who serve in Indonesia). You will have the opportunity to be involved in what God is doing on the other side of the world. Stay tuned for more details.

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS).....will return this fall beginning September 17, 2009. The MOPS experience equips women for the joys and challenges of their lives as moms. This fall we will add a new chapter to our MOPS ministry called MomsNext (Mothers’ of School Age Children). Both MOPS and MomsNext will meet on Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information, contact Karla Salsbury, Children’s Pastor, Erin Whitman, coordinator of MomsNext or Heather Allen, coordinator of MOPS.

HOOKED! A place to participate in lively Bible study with other young adults (18-29 year olds) just like you. You will learn about and discuss relevant issues we face in our everyday lives. This new small group will meet on Sunday mornings off campus and then will participate in the 10:45 a.m. worship service. If you would like to work with this population or be involved in this new and exciting ministry, see Pastor Michael or call the church office and speak to Becky Silvey.

Celebrate Recovery.....has regrouped and is ready to launch August 3, 2009. This ministry celebrates God’s healing power in our lives through the “8 Recovery Principles.” This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. This ministry is for everyone who has experienced a habit, hurt, or hang-up that is negatively impacting your life. We will dedicate this new ministry on August 2nd. Everyone is encouraged to become involved!
